Behavioural Adaptation:
- Soft spinifex only produces and releases seeds after exceptional rainfall, this making sure the seeds will have a moist environment to germinate
Structural Adaptation:
- The roots of soft spinifex develop from the same nodes as the shoots giving each shoot its own water supply. This ensures that each shoot has a substantial amount of water to carry out normal functions within the shoots.
Physiological Adaptation:
- The leaves contain a large amount of silica. This makes the spikey leaves still and rigid meaning they will not bent in high windy conditions.
